Cosco updates the shipping comunity with the latest information about their Low Sulphur policy:

RE:  LOW SULPHUR FUEL SURCHARGES FOR SHIPMENTS IN SPECIFIC TRADE

 

     The International Maritime Organization( IMO) sets global sulphur limits for marine fuels as per the International Convention MARPOL Annex VI Regulations for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships. The directive sets the areas, called Emission Control Areas (ECA) where stricter Ssulphur limits apply.

As of 1st, January 2015, a new legal requirements will come into force in ECA of North Europe (Including the Baltic Sea, North Sea and English Channel) and North America (Including USA , Canadian shore and Caribbean seas). All the shipping lines must use higher-quality fuels with sulphur content of no more than 0.1% in ECA which will results in an annual cost increase.

    COSCON is fully compliant with environmental rules and regulations. In response to this new regulation and offset the increase costs, COSCON will introduce a new and separate Low Sulphur Fuel Surcharge ( LSF ) for general cargoes a/f:

  • Far East(include Japan) to/from North Europe: usd20/TEU;
  • South East Asia to/from North Europe: USD25/TEU;
  • Indian Subcontinent to/from North Europe: USD25/TEU；
  • Mediterranean and North Europe to from North America: USD75/TEU；

All these surcharges will be enforced from 1st, January, 2015
