IMDG Code Amendment 37-14 Becomes Mandatory from January 1, 2016

 

 

Dear Valued Customer,

The mandatory rules of the new International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code 2014 Edition (IMDG Code Amendment 37-14) will come into force on January 1, 2016 for two years and OOCL would like advise all customers to prepare and be ready for this new edition. The current IMDG Code terms of 36-12 will phase out of use on December 31, 2015.

In the new IMDG Code Amendment 37-14 there are numerous updates which include, but not limited to, the following important and notable areas:

  • The Dangerous Goods List (DGL) in 3.2 will include 20 new UN Numbers from UN 3507 to UN 3526
  • The provisions concerning Class 7
  • The classification provisions in Part 2, including changes to Proper Shipping Names (PSN) for several class entries
  • The new and revised packing instructions, including those for IBCs and large packaging

Customers are strongly recommended to check with official sources for the full IMDG Code details and must declare accurate cargo nature and all relevant information to carriers according to Amendment 37-14 from January 1, 2016 onwards.
