Addendum to an Earlier Notice on the Certificate of Conformity for Imports to Kenya
The Kenya Revenue Authority has issued a clarification to the shipping lines that only cargo that has been issued with the Certificate of Conformity should be accepted for loading at origin.
Cargo consigned to Kenya which does not comply with this requirement shall not be permitted for off-loading and will be re-exported to the origin.
All costs associated with the re-export shall be on account of the shipper.
These measures will be applicable on all shipment loading from the origin ports on the 1 January 2016.
Please note this applies only to cargo consigned to Kenya Country. Cargo that is in-transit through Kenya is not affected by this specific requirement.
