Dear Valued Customer,
On 22nd June, Maersk Line was informed by the North Sea Terminal in Bremerhaven (NTB) that they have placed 8 (eight) STS cranes out of service for safety reasons. The terminal has 16 STS cranes. NTB expects that the cranes will remain out of service and this represents a significant loss of capacity.

NTB is an important hub terminal in Maersk Line’s service network. The NTB’s loss of capacity will have a significant impact on Maersk Line’s operations. Most notably, Maersk Line’s services to/from Scandinavia and the Baltic Region, hereunder Germany.

We are currently investigating all options to secure alternative solutions to discharge and load cargo and to minimise any disruptions to our customers’ cargo flows until the challenges are resolved. Customers immediately affected, with cargo to be loaded on the vessels, which was at berth at the time of crane withdrawal, will be contacted individually by our CARE business partners.

NTB Bremerhaven is determined to improve its productivity despite the withdrawal of cranes and is currently working on bringing in additional cranes from adjacent terminal, as well as advancing the return of other cranes currently out for maintenance to minimise any further impact.

Maersk Line remains committed to ensuring safety and efficiency of our operations and to providing our customers with updated information regarding their cargo. We will continue with regular updates to all customers as soon we have relevant information to share and will remain in close dialogue with individual customers regarding specific solutions.

With best regards
