Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Surcharges for Exports from Europe

22 June, 2016

As per the SOLAS regulation, effective 1 July, 2016, it is the shipper’s responsibility to provide the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) to UASC or the port terminal facility representative upon the delivery of the container to the port facility and prior to loading.

We expect all our customers to be fully compliant with the SOLAS requirements. However, if there is noncompliance to procedures, UASC reserves the right to collect any out-of-pocket costs which may be charged to us by Third Parties.

Further, to recover costs from operational disruptions, loss of capacity and/or administration, we will apply charges for Europe exports* as follows:

 (Non) Compliance Fee: EUR50/Container
 Dead Freight Charge amount: EUR150/Container
 Manual Processing Fee amount: EUR25/Container
 Scope: All Destinations
 Cargo Type: All cargo types
 Effective date: 1 July, 2016 (based on cargo gate-in date)

For United Kingdom, the charges apply in British Pound (GBP). Further local charges may be applicable, depending on local conditions and requirements.

(*) Applicable for exports from Austria, Baltic States, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United Kingdom.

The above charges and implementation dates will not apply for containers destined to the USA, for which charges will be announced separately.
