12 January 2017
[Peru] Mandatory Customs Requirement – Tax ID Transmission for Imports
Dear Valued Customer,

As formerly advised, effective 15 January 2017, the Peruvian Customs require the Peruvian Tax ID number (known as RUC) of the consignee to be included in the Bill of Lading.

Consignee’s tax ID number must be indicated after its legal name information. While no specific format is required, it must contain the word RUC and the complete number without any punctuation marks. For example:

Consignee complete name
RUC 00000000000
Address line 1
Address Line 2
Address Line 3

If the Bill of Lading is consigned “To Order”, the notify party must be a Peruvian company and its RUC and complete address must be indicated. Please note that all Bill of Lading for Peru must include shipper, consignee and notify party’s complete name and address information.

Do ensure this specified mandatory information is shared with your business associates and is well included in your Shipping Instructions for any shipment arriving Peru on or after 15 January 2017, in order to avoid any rejection from the Peruvian Customs Authorities at the time of sending the manifest to Customs.

We thank you for your kind attention. For further assistance, please contact your local APL representative.

Sincerely,

APL
