SOLAS VGM Implementation Update & Tools
Dear Valued Customer,
The new SOLAS VGM regulation is going to take effect on 1 July 2016, less than a month away. Following up on previous advisories on the same topic, we would like to keep you informed on the latest update on SOLAS VGM implementation as follows:
The latest version of APL’s SOLAS VGM Handbook, dated 6 June 2016 is out at APL.com/VGM, containing new information on:
o Worldwide SOLAS enforcement and grace period
o VGM determination and container tare weight look-up
o VGM submission flow and instructions
Information on VGM submission cut-offs for terminals in APL’s network is now available for browsing via the interactive SOLAS VGM Implementation Map at APL.com/VGM. Refer to SOLAS VGM Handbook Question V.2 for more information.
APL has also launched the online Container Tare Weight Query Tool to empower you to obtain the container tare weight at your convenience while determining VGM (via Method 2). Refer to SOLAS VGM Handbook Question IV.8 for more information.
For VGM submissions to APL via email, an Excel template has been developed and made available for download at APL.com/VGM (VGM Tools section). Refer to SOLAS VGM Handbook Question V.3 for more information.
