The shipping industry is like a roller coaster. We saw times where rates were low, carriers went bankrupt. Hanjin disappeared and capacities were cut, the new alliances are formed and now….

….. space situation on certain trades is desperate.

That leads to spectacular and “unlawful” actions of the carriers, cancelling all rates, quotes and contracts, no matter what. Cargo accepted under certain conditions waiting on the pier for loading will not be moved as foreseen.

Several lines follow the same actions, Evergreen, Maersk, Cosco etc.

Forwarders may lose long standing customers as they cannot maintain rate levels by far and even at higher rates the cargo gets shut out.

Terms and conditions are imposed as per this circular:

Dear Customer,

Due to the current market circumstances, causing enormous space issues on our Far East trade lane vessels, COSCO SHIPPING is no longer able to deliver the service she stands for.

Due to the tremendous volumes, we suffer an enormous overbook situation which is leading to many roll-overs and as this is not in favor of you as customer as well for COSCO SHIPPING Lines,
