Correction of our circular from February 16th, 2017:
Implementation of India Service Tax on
all Shipments to India – Effective January 22, 2017
Dear valued customer,
Please note that the Indian government will charge a local tax on the sea freight for all incoming shipments from the arrival date January 22th, 2017. All imports are therefore taxed at a “service tax” of 4.5% on the entire sea freight.
This tax is collected by EVERGREEN Line only on the basis of “collect” payable at the port of destination. A payment based on “prepaid” is not possible.
Please note that all previous fees / taxes in India must remain unchanged and payable.
