Dear INTTRA Customers,

Based on the new regulations instructions being implemented by the Brazilian Customs Authorities – MAPA Brazilian Normative Instruction 32/2015 – concerning Wooden Packing Materials, Brazil exporters and importers will be required to provide, Wooden Packing Material details when submitting your shipping instructions to the Ocean Carrier. This process will go into effect February 1, 2016 and will apply to shipments containing wood packaging material, originating from Brazil, destined for Brazil, or being part of transshipments via Brazil.

You can view the information online here.

This will require that your INTTRA shipping instructions should clearly indicate the following:

A. If the Packaging used (including Pallets) is made of wood
B. In the case Wooden Packaging is used, the appropriate type should be included:

  • Wooden Package : Treated and Certified
  • Wooden Package : Not-Treated and Not-Certified
  • Wooden Package : Processed
As a temporary solution to accommodate this new Brazil Customs requirement, we are suggesting that our customers add the text under INTTRA’s Bill Of Lading Comments field when  sending Shipping Instructions to/from Brazil:
  • Wooden Package : not applicable
  • Wooden Package : Treated and Certified
  • Wooden Package : Not-Treated and Not-Certified
  • Wooden Package : Processed
Indicates there is no wood or wooden package in the shipment
