Congo River Surcharge (Port Additionals/Port Dues Import) – Matadi

For FMC corridors

We are pleased to inform you that we will be re-introducing the Congo River Surcharge (also called Port Additionals /Port Dues Import) for all import shipments into Matadi.

The purpose of this surcharge is as introduced by the Local Maritime Authority of Matadi to cover the cost of continuous dredging operations on the Congo River leading up to Matadi port.

You will recall this surcharge was earlier introduced to be paid on freight from June 2015 but was stopped since April 2016 – in order to find the best way to collect and make it easy for our customers.

The surcharge will now be effective from 15th July 2016, and payable as local charges by consignees at destination.

The surcharge amount will be EUR70 per 20ft container (or EUR140 per 40ft container).

We thank you for your continuous patronage.
