Dear valued customer,

Here at Maersk Line we are continually working to ensure that all of our activities respect local government regulations to provide our customers with a responsible, trouble-free customer experience.

As such we would like to inform customers shipping to/from India and who are located outside of India of a government regulated service tax on certain services rendered locally within India.

The application of the India Service Tax will result in an increase of 14 percent on both import and export service charges including terminal handling, detention, inland haulage, container cleaning and documentation fees.*

The India Service Tax is already applied on shipments where the invoice is paid locally in India. From July 1, 2015, it will also be required to be paid on all shipments where the local charges are invoiced to companies outside of India.

It is important for us to stress that this is a tax imposed by the Indian government, and not a Maersk Line surcharge.

If you are unsure about anything related to the above, or would like to talk this through with a Maersk Line representative, please reach out to your local Maersk Line office.

Sincerely,

Maersk Deutschland A/S & Co. KG
