Maersk Line to acquire Hamburg Süd
Dear Customers,
We are pleased to inform you, that the Maersk Group has today announced our intention to acquire Hamburg Süd and Aliança.
While this agreement is still pending final agreement and approvals from regulatory authorities, we wanted to ensure you received the news directly from us. Currently it is not expected that we will be able to start joint operations before earliest in Q4/2017.
Hamburg Süd and Aliança will continue as separate brands
Hamburg Süd and Aliança will continue as separate brands and maintain their local organisations.
Hamburg Süd and Aliança are very well-run companies and highly respected carriers – with strong brands, dedicated employees, a good customer base and an attractive fleet. We will maintain the personal touch and engagement with customers that Hamburg Süd and Aliança offer today and Hamburg Süd customers will continue to work with the same Sales and Customer Service representatives as they have done in the past.
You’ll get more opportunities, leveraged by a large network
You will have access to the dedicated end-to-end services provided by Hamburg Süd and Aliança in the North – South trades as well as the flexibility and reach provided in a global hub-based network.
This combined network provides us with exciting opportunities to develop new competitive products and exploit operational synergies. At the same time, existing Safmarine customers will benefit from an increase in weekly sailings and more direct port-to-port pairs.
