Dear Stakeholders,
Being a QICT partner, we would like to bring it to your kind knowledge that we are passing through a temporary surge situation due to following reasons:
- Clustering of vessels.
- Vessels arriving out of their normal schedules (out of Window)
- Surge in Export Shipment due to Operation go slow at Karachi Port.
- Reduction in the percentage of containers cleared through green channel resulting in extra workload with respect to examination activities
- Increase in scanning requirements
Due to above surge reasons QICT is facing following issues:
- Drop in productivity
- Backlog of examination activities
- Increase in Truck turnaround time.
- Delay in shifting of import/export containers from Terminal to Off-dock facilities & vice versa.
QICT is taking following measures to mitigate the situation caused by factors which are beyond the control of QICT:
- Two out of five stack under construction are now ready to use increasing TGS by 516 which has enabled us to handle 2000 extra TEU’s. Remaining 3 will be ready by April 30, 2017.
- Additional Vehicles are hired for internal transportation.
- Permission to process transfer of 2000 long idling import TEUs to TSA yard (Outside Terminal facility) is initiated.
- Extra vessels/loaders will be accommodated only in case if there is drop in yard density.
- Extended port stay will be offered to the vessels where possible in order to compensate for the drop in productivity.
- Vessel exchange will be restricted as per agreed moves for all the services. However, acceptance of higher moves per vessel will be allowed on case to case basis, if it will help to reduce yard density by clearing exports in the terminal (subject to berth availability) OR there will be a drop in yard density to accommodate the higher moves.
- Export Storage / Rollover will be applied in case more cargo will be booked as compared to agreed exchange.
We are trying our best to accommodate all requests in best possible manner, however we are facing delays in few cases. Once the back log will be cleared, Terminal services will be restored to its normal level within required minimum time.
